How To Know How Many Files In a Google Drive Folder?

Google Drive is one of the most popular online storage platforms for all the right reasons. It is easy to access and can store piles of data while ensuring safety and privacy. However, when it comes to managing Google Drive, you need to have a count of the files in all folders. Unfortunately, not many people are aware you can do that. In this article, we are going to share a few tips to help you manage your Google Drive better.

Drag But Do Not Drop

The first method of knowing how many files there are in a Google Drive Folder is using the drag but do not drop option. This might sound weird as both are mostly used as a combination but in this case, we are only going to drag. To begin with, you are going to access your Google Drive and navigate to the folder containing the files.

If the folder contains a lot of files, make sure to scroll down to the bottom to ensure every file uploads. Once all the files have appeared, use ‘CTRL + A’ keyboard shortcut to select all the files. Now, simply drag the files as if you are going to drop them but do not.

Meanwhile, the total number of files will appear in a red circle. In the end, press the ‘ESC’ key to deselect the files.

Using Sharing Method

The next method is using the sharing functionality of Google Drive. You will begin by opening the Google Drive folder and using the combination ‘CTRL + A’ to select the files. Next, right-click on any file and click on the ‘Share’ option. As soon as you do this, the number of files you are about to share will show up in a pop-up screen.

Downloading the Folder

Alternatively, you can also download the files and folders from Google Drive itself. Then again, you do not have to download the files, simply give the comment and cancel it as soon as it shows the number of files being downloaded.

To start, open your Google Drive folder and select all the files. Once you are done selecting, right-click on any file and click on the ‘Download’ option. As soon as you click the option, a mini pop-up window will show up displaying the number of files ready to download.
